We leased a equipment with an option to buy and I was wondering if we can depreciate the equipment. We might buy it at the end of the lease or return it. So can we get the deduction through depreciation or just deduct the lease pmt. thx

I'm about to lease a storefront space that has some equipment in it that was left by the previous owner. I'm not sure if he owns it, or if he was leasing it himself but it's still there.

If I'm the new legal owner of the business and the lease holder, does that mean the people who own the equipment can not come in to reclaim their stuff once I open for business?

How big is the need for Business Finance brokers currently? Does the need for Commercial R.E. loans, commercial factoring, equipment leasing loans, and business loans remain relatively constant? Or does this fluctuate just as much as the housing market has?

I'm working on a case study for an accounting class and need to know whether leased equipment (i.e. airplanes) would be depreciated the same way as purchased equipment? If so, does leased equipment have a salvage value since you can't sell it when you're done?

I ordered a product for my car that I am supposed to lease for a period of six months. The product was sent straight to the installer and was installed. I received the lease in the mail that I am supposed to sign and mail back to them. However, I do not like the product and want to return it. Do I still have to abide by the lease agreement even though I have not signed the lease and mailed it back to them?

I leased a building, in the contract it states that all fixtures will become property of the landlord. The contract was not explained to me as far as the definition of a fixture. (my fault) but, my definition of "fixture" does not include restaurant equipment (free standing). Does he have the right to keep this equipment?

Small business here. I may have a big gain coming on the sale of a part of my business. Potentially looking to offset some of the gain by writing off some old equipment that is still in use. All of the old equipment is leased. Accounting wise, can I write off leased equipment? If I write it off as a loss, do I have to early term the equipment with the lessor. Does any of this change if the equipment is still in use after the write off?

My sister-in-law applied and received the lease. Minus the confusion that led to finally getting the funds, she found out yesterday that a 71.5% finance charge was added upon signing the lease. Discussing this with the leasing company and requesting the document that dictates this information and our agreeing to it, they say that doing the math on the amortized loan amount would have shown the charge. Okay, agreed but is there any upfront disclosure rules that should have been presented before sticking it in there?

Some assistance with equipment leasing rules, laws (if any) and defaulting would be helpful.

Extending on the second answer received, am I to understand that lease financing is not susceptible to the same disclosure details as typical bank financing?
She is trying to get a copy of the documents from the lease company as I type. From their, she can compare what is on file to what they have.
